Forms Poomsae Kata
(English) (Korean) (Japanese)
Poomsae are forms or patterns of martial art techniques created by the masters to teach defense against multiple opponents. In the case of the Shotokan Karate black belt forms, many were developed from actual unarmed combat defending the island of Okinawa against invaders. It is said the secrets of the martial arts masters are hidden within the kata and only begin to reveal themselves after 1,000 practices.
